Hi. So glad you stopped in. I hope you'll stay around for a while to find out what this site is all about. I'm Carlo A. Balistrieri, and this is BotanicalGardening.com.

BotanicalGardening.com is equal parts horticulture, botany, and plain old playing-in-the-dirt. It is, in turn, both scholarly (if I can manage it) and homespun, awestruck and irreverent, serious and silly. It is not "just another gardening website."

I hope it's the next step in your dealings with the plant world.

Basic gardening information abounds in a myriad books, magazines, websites, and blogs. What is sorely lacking is solid, reliable information, whole wheat grist for people who want to go beyond white bread. Sure we'll talk about plants and growing them. We'll discuss gardening and design. We'll banter about the old and new thinking on all these subjects. And I'll blather on on any manner of subjects related to plants, gardening, and the gardening lifestyle. BUT we're going to take it to another level.

We all come with baggage, so check in here Who Am I? ...to view mine. You'll get an introduction to who I am and what I'm about. As this site develops you'll learn more about me than you ever wanted to know. (Trust me, that's a scary thought for both of us). I'll give it to you straight and let you sort it out for yourselves.
